Una marca ligada en su dia a H-D y a la que le dio cuatro titulos mudiales,tres en 250 y uno en 350.

La que en un principio fue una industria aeronáutica italiana, llegó a convertirse con el tiempo en una filial de la norteamericana Harley-Davidson en Europa "Chimera" fue el nombre con que se bautizó el modelo que realmente dio a conocer esta marca en 1956.

Desde entonces Aermachi alcanzó prestigio internacional en los circuitos con sus excelentes máquinas de 4 tiempos. Con respecto a la Chimera, la posición horizontal de su motor lo convertía en sumamente accesible, lo que unida a su extrema simplicidad de construcción, permitió que mas tarde, los aficionados pudieran disponer de un Kit intercambiable de pistón y cilindro que les facilitaba su participación en las categorías de 250cc. y 350cc.En 1960 la mitad del capital accionario pasó a Harley-Davidson.La primera Aermachi - H-D de competición fue presentada ese mismo año.
